A dental implant itself is not a natural tooth! It is the standard of care for your tooth replacement. A dental implant is a prosthesis used to replace your missing tooth. They fit in with your jaw bone to provide support for dentures and crowns. Dental implants procedure involves the use of a dental implant, abutment, and crown.

  • Dental Implant – It is a cylindrical post made of titanium that is placed as a substitute of your tooth root.
  • Abutment – It is a connector placed on the top of the implant to connect the implant and the crown.
  • Crown – It is the replacement teeth that is custom made to match your natural teeth and placed on the implants.

When the dental implant is placed on your jawbone, it gets fused with your natural bone and act as a strong foundation for the replacement teeth. Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth or denture containing multiple teeth.
